NEW YORK, NEW YORK – NOVEMBER 9, 2017 – Today, DMV auteur and recording artist Chaz French has surprised fans by dropping a mixtape that rounds out the incredible 2017 the ThreeSixEight/Capitol artist has had. With the success of many new artists and records now coming from the burgeoning hip hop scene in the DMV, Chaz decided it was a good time to put together a short playlist that soundtracked daily DMV life. Featuring Innanet James, Fat Trel, Will Tha Rapper and more, the mixtape features a slew of DMV vernacular and the vibey rap sound that Chaz French was first discovered on. Premiering first on Mass Appeal, listen to the project here: https://massappeal.com/chaz-french-kill-volume-1-dmv-original-mixtape-premiere/ |

It’s been a roller coaster ride for Chaz, who’s debut album True Colors (LISTEN HERE) was released earlier this summer. The critically acclaimed album helped solidify Chaz as a true one to watch and was heavily supported by fellow artists/musicians such as Pusha T, Curren$y, Wale, BJ The Chicago and more. The album played an important role in paving the narrative for Chaz as a true supporter of the DMV region – in all its guts and glory. Staying true to the themes of the debut project, Chaz became a proponent for voicing on topics of mass incarceration going as far as penning an op-ed with Teen Vogue about growing up as a child with an incarcerated parent – a narrative all too familiar to all those around him. To read the poignant piece, CLICK HERE. He also teamed up with fellow activist Tony Lewis Jr. to film a piece with CNN to discuss issues of mass incarceration and the state of young black men in this country. Watch that clip HERE.
KILL: Vol 1 comes right in the middle of Chaz French’s national tour with J.I.D and EarthGang’s “Never Had Shit Tour.” Playing cities across the country, Chaz has become a mainstay live performer bringing his rumbustious energy and larger than life personality to eager crowds nationwide. 2017 has been a major year for Chaz, but with this most recent release and his reputation on the road proves that the proud DMV artist is only just getting started. |

ABOUT CHAZ FRENCH
Transparent and often unapologetic about his past, Chaz French’s lyrics to his vibey music are inspired by his own life experiences. He delivers his art in its purest form and people have gravitated to his honest lyrics throughout his career. Born in D.C. and raised in Maryland, French describes himself as a survivor having experienced an almost fatal car accident and homelessness, often crediting those traumatic experiences to his tenaciousness. Chaz first burst on to the scene with the release of his Billboard charting EP, These Things Take Time. Earlier this year, Chaz released his critically acclaimed debut album True Colors which boasted collaborations with BJ The Chicago Kid, Phil Ade, Shy Glizzy, Curren$y, Casey Veggies and more. With the release of True Colors, Chaz positioned himself as the industry’s most promising new artists. The first single off the record, “Way Out,” premiered via Billboard who also announced his signing to ThreeSixEight/Capitol/Motown Records. Soon after releasing his debut project, his track “Hol Up” ft. fellow DMV artist Shy Glizzy shot through the charts and received a kaleidoscope music treatment – watch the trippy video here. Chaz’s enigmatic stage presence has also earned him festival routing/spot dates around the country including a successful run at SXSW in Austin this year, Rolling Loud this summer, Broccoli City Fest, a guest spot on Wale’s The Shine Tour, Break The Internet Festival, and most recently the “Never Had Sh!t Tour” with J.I.D. and EarthGang. Simultaneously, the DMV artist permeates through other facets of pop culture and fashion appearing in brand partnerships campaigns such as G Shock, Under Armor and becoming an ambassador for New Balance. Chaz is also a mainstay on the New York Fashion Week scene – often seated front row – thanks to his incredibly fashion forward and unique sense of style, covered by the likes of GQ, Teen Vogue, Nylon and more. 2017 has been a major year for Chaz, but his most recent mixtape release KILL: Vol 1 proves that the young artist is only just getting started. |
